Tighter gun control means more difficult for criminals to obtain guns

If gun control is tightened then the criminals have another obstacle to commit their intended crime thus another chance to get caught before committing the crime.

During World War II in Nazi occupied Europe, there was only one rule about gun ownership - if you are found with a gun, you are executed immediately. No ifs, ands or buts. And yet people owned all kinds of weapons.

If the threat of immediate execution did not stop people from owning guns, do you think that US politicians can/will pass a law with harsher penalties?

If the threat of immediate execution did not stop people from owning guns, do you think ANY law passed by US politicians will?

Why is the state w the most stringent gun controls, IL, also has the highest level of violence? But my bigger question is this.....the current bill as proposed, would allow Doctors to put patients on a national watch list, if they feel he or she is showing signs of mental instability, and they do not have to tell the patient they are putting them on this list. So basically, you go in for a check up, your Doctor thinks you are "off" a bit and puts you on this list without you knowing. Do you support this type of bill? You need to read the details of the bill and not just make general statements about background checks. I actually would favor more stringent background checks. But, sadly, the bill proposed goes MUCH further than just basic criminal background checks. So far that I would not support it.
